Moss opened its doors in 2012 by founder Hayley Sharpe, a Port Angeles local & wanderer-at-heart with a passion for nature & design. After roaming the West Coast for nearly a decade, Sharpe returned home to her roots with dreams of opening a space that would bring a sense of PNW style & community to her hometown.

Moss’ first 10 years were spent in a quaint creative space in downtown Port Angeles. Sharpe & her staff created a destination retail experience adorned with towering A-frame displays, curated collections, & hand-picked “Goods from the Woods.” Their small business continued to grow each year, gracefully navigating the 2020 pandemic by pivoting to online sales, doorstep delivery, & creative marketing. By 2022, Moss had renovated & relocated to its current 4200-square-foot home: A desirable corner location up the block that had sat empty for many years. Every detail that went into the expansion was whimsical & intentional from its peek-a-boo dressing room windows to the dog-treat door to the massive locally-milled timber beams, creating an elevated shopping experience like no other.

With the continued support of customers near & far, Moss now has a bountiful sales floor, an online store, stockroom, shipping department, maker's studio, workshop space, & a sustainable store next door, The Loop, where guests can shop vintage & secondhand goods & take part in our trade-in program to exchange gently-used outdoor apparel & gear.
